The characterful and enjoyable wines of winemaker Ewald Zweytick from southern Styria are deeply imprinted on the taste buds. His principle of giving each variety the time it needs and only harvesting fully ripe, healthy grapes is reflected in the longevity of his wines. And not least in the power and fullness on the palate. Ewald Zweytick cultivates the main varieties of Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller and Weißburgunder on 18 hectares of vineyards, followed by Chardonnay and Sämling, Roter Traminer, Zweigelt and Grauburgunder. Among his absolute favourite wines are "Don't Cry", which is also very popular in top cuisine, and "Heaven's Door", which is produced by carbonic maceration - both made from Sauvignon Blanc, which Ewald Zweytick considers to be the perfect variety in terms of nose, spiciness and length on the palate. These wines can spend up to 20 months or more in barrel. With these wines, Zweytick comes closest to his ideal of full, dense and long-lasting wines. From the harvest to the work in the cellar to the delivery - Ewald Zweytick is involved in every step of the process himself. As a result, each of his long-lasting wines not only reflects the unique climate of the Südsteiermark wine growing region with its flavour-defining soils, but also Ewald Zweytick himself.
